Gunwharf Quays, like all of the Land Securities sites, is BS OHSAS 18001 Certified (Health and Safety), and also IS0 14001 Certified. ISO 14001 requires our Environmental Team to undertake regular Audits of our buildings to ensure they strive for continued improvement with regard to sustainability issues. This detailed audit process also highlights any potential environmental risks and helps to ensure they are prevented, this includes a Pollution Incidence Response Plan that is checked and reviewed on an annual basis.
Land Securities has a target of zero waste to landfill, so far Gunwharf Quays has achieved 99.5% of waste diverted from landfill. Land Securities ensures that for Gunwharf Quays the correct duty of care procedures for waste collection are taking place.
Land Securities has a target to reduce average CO2 emissions from the managed portfolio by 30% by 2020 (compared to 2000/2001). This will lead to interim reduction targets by March 2013 of 5.8% for Shopping Centres and 8.4% for Retail Parks. In order to reach this target, each of the Land Securities sites including Gunwharf Quays are undergoing an extensive Energy Audit program which highlights any potential energy saving measures or improvements that have not yet been captured.
